Joseph P. Feld, of Tomball, Tex., and former resident of Poplar Bluff for over 20 years died Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Silverado Senior Living Center, in The Woodlands, Tex., at age 94.
Mr. Feld was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Elwood, Ind. While residents of Poplar Bluff he and his wife, Anna Marie was parishioners at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was also a lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus. Mr. Feld loved music and could play by ear all the popular music of his youth. He sang in a barbershop quartet called the Novelaires in the early 1950s and appeared on local TV stations in Indianapolis, Ind. where he grew up. In 1954, Mr. Feld moved his family to San Diego, Calif. in order to live in a better climate for his children who had frequent respiratory problems. He and his wife stayed in that area until 3 of his children were married and then returned to Indianapolis to be near his aging mother.
On June 8, 1938, he married Anna Marie Zimmerman, in Ind. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Phyllis Zdunkiewicz, of Tomball, Tex., Joanne McIntyre, of Sierra Madre, Calif. and Dolores Takemoto, of Manhattan, Kans.; a son, David M. Feld, of Denver, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and sister, Madonna Rea, of Indianapolis, Ind.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, June 2nd at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3rd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Kyle Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
