John Marshall Carrier

John Marshall Carrier, 63, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Carrier, son of the late John William and Bessie Elizabeth (Smith) Carrier, was born April 25, 1945, in Bloomfield. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he had worked with the Job Corps ministry, and had retired in 1997 from John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff as a Registered Nurse. Mr. Carrier enjoyed photography, sports, and wood carving. He was a member of the Wood Carvers Association, and a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Era.

On Nov. 9, 1973, he married Susan Cope, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include his son, James M. ""Jim"" Carrier, of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Norma Lane, of Flint, Mich. and Ruth Ham, of St. Charles; and three brothers, Elza Leon Carrier, of Youngstown, Ohio, Charles E. Carrier, of Dexter and Paul R Carrier, of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Mr. Carrier was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Eugene Carrier and James Eldon Carrier.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Westwood Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Church with Dr. Steve Proctor officiating and the Rev. Jim Osborn assisting. Burial will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
