Jimmie R. Jenkins
Jimmie Ray ""Fiddlin' Jim"" Jenkins, 76, of Harviell died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Jenkins was born July 12, 1931, in Harviell. He had retired from Rowe Furniture Co. after 25 years of service, was a member of Masonic Lodge 568, in Naylor, and was a former school board member for Neelyville Schools. Mr. Jenkins was also a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict era. An avid fiddler, he was featured on the KLID Radio show ""Fiddlin' Jim and the other bunch"". Mr. Jenkins enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and doing woodwork.
On July 18, 1949 he married Elaine Owens, in Detroit, Mich. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Jannette Overbeck, of Harviell; two sons, Owen Jenkins and wife Sherry, of Qulin and Randy Jenkins, of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Michael Overbeck and wife Julia, of Seattle, Wash., Jennifer Nicolini and husband Shannon and Jason Jenkins and wife Tiffany, all of Poplar Bluff and Callie Gabbert and husband Chris, of Florissant, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Alex Nicolini, Okeemah Nicolini, Lucas Nicolini, Cassandra Beau Gabbert, Hunter Jenkins and Caden Jenkins; two sisters, Pauline Mundinger, of San Jose, Calif. and Irene Bailey, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Paul Jenkins and Roy Jenkins, both of Harviell; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
His parents Joseph Roy and Minnie Callie (Freeman) Jenkins, sisters, Cynthia Gibson and Millie Kennedy and brother, Harold Jenkins preceded him in death.
Masonic Rites conducted by the Naylor Masonic Lodge 568 will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff with visitation following. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel with Bro. Bob Case officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
