Jerry Holland

Jerry Holland, 90, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, January 31, 2021.  Mr. Holland was born on January 17, 1931 in Steele, Missouri, biological son of the late William and Jennie (Hensley) Holland.  He was lovingly raised by Walter and Mamie Key.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Marines.  He spent his career working for the Missouri State Highway Department.  He took great pride in raising and trading horses throughout his life.  When not working, he could be found watching wrestling and spending time with his grandchildren.  Since his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, driving his truck, and watching Cardinals baseball.

Jerry never met a stranger and was a gentleman at all times.  He helped every single person that he knew needed help and met any trouble that came his way with a clear head, strong moral compass, and determination to see things through to the best end possible.  He was the greatest man that his loved ones ever knew and he will be deeply missed and mourned by all who ever had the honor and pleasure of knowing him.

He said that when he gets to heaven, he will play his guitar and ride horses.  Although there is sadness here on Earth at his passing, we will smile and rejoice at the thought of him in heaven doing what he loved.

On November 3, 1951, he married Nadine Teeter.  She survives.  Also surviving are two daughters:  Dianne (Dale) Gulledge of Maynard, Arkansas and Pat (Bill) Taylor of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren:  Shelly (Alan) Roby of Qulin, Stacey Harlow of Poplar Bluff, Wes (Bobbie Jo) Wyrick of Bragg City, and Dee (Aaron) Burton of Poplar Bluff; ten great-grandchildren:  Doug Roby, Zack Robinson, Taylor, Tori, and Ty Harlow, Dakota and Weston Wyrick, and Noah, J.D., and Micah Burton; and two great-great-grandchildren:  Tyson and Hudson Roby.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lear Bernard.
