J.C. Harwell

J.C. Harwell, 91, passed away at Oakdale Care Center on November 18, 2024.

J.C. was born on November 15, 1933, to Fred Martin Harwell and Gertrude (Fisher) Harwell in Henderson, MO. He married Betty Sue (Thornton) Harwell on July 26, 1958.

J.C. received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy on December 05, 1961. He was a member of Fellowship Southern Baptist Church in Harviell, MO. J.C. worked as a brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad until he retired in the early 1980’s.

J.C. is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Sue Harwell; two sons, Jeff (Marlo) Harwell of Fairdealing, MO and Justin (Betsy) Harwell of Poplar Bluff, MO; two sisters, Betty Harwell Pyle and Barbara Harwell Lundry; two half-sisters, Lana Birdsong Adair and Darlene Birdsong McCoach; six grandchildren, Corey (Chayanne) Buffington, Brittney Marie Harwell-Digges, Michael Harwell, Mitchell Harwell, Hunter Harwell, and Matthew Harwell; five great-grandchildren, Montana Buffington, James Buffington, Kaylee Digges, Jayden Digges, and Haylee Digges; one great-great-grandchild, Maylon Donovan; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Graveside service to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
