James "Jimmy" L Vernon

James (Jimmy) L Vernon, 74, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on Friday, June 9th, 2023, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri after a short battle with liver cancer.

Jimmy was born on May 14, 1949, to James G. and Delores (Turner) Vernon in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Jimmy graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1967, he spent his early years, working as a union plumber and pipe fitter before finding his career as a business owner in Poplar Bluff and the SE Missouri area. Mike's Lounge, Yesterdays, and Jim & Jerry's were some of the establishments he owned and operated. Jimmy's true calling, and where he felt most at home, was at the pool table.  His reputation as one of the best in the area was legitimized when he won the Missouri State 9 Ball Championship.  Whether playing pool or poker, a small wager was never out of the question.  Jimmy also had a lifelong passion with Harley-Davidson motorcycles, this is where he made some of his best and longest lasting friendships. He will be missed and remembered by many.

Jimmy is survived by his sons; Jimmy (Stacey) Vernon and Joey (Cheryl) Vernon, Grandchildren; Audrey Vernon, David (Frani) Vernon, Shelby (Anthony) Vezeau, Carr Vernon, Lane (Ash) Vernon, and Chloe (James) Osborn, six great grandchildren and many friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James G. Vernon and Delores Terry and one brother, John Vernon.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from5:00-7:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
