James (Jim) Osborn, 67, of Poplar Bluff, died suddenly in an automobile accident on Thursday, October 13, 2022. While he will be missed by many, we know that the moment he closed his eyes here on earth he opened them to his Savior in heaven.
James Stanton Osborn was born on May 20, 1955, to Frank and Harriett (Treeloggin) Osborn in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He married Diana Ray on July 17, 1976, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He graduated from Cape Central High School in 1973, where he met his wife Diana (Ray) Osborn; they were married in 1976. He and Diana had three children (as well as a long list of “adopted” children), and eight grandchildren. He had many accomplishments in life, but above all Jim was a pastor, mentor, and friend to many people throughout our community and the world. He was a long-time member of Westwood Baptist Church where he worked as a pastor for 15 years. Most recently he was employed at Gates as a material analyst.
Jim lived his life with joy…he loved to have fun, with character…he worked hard and provided well for his family, and with purpose…he had a desire to see the people around him come to know Christ as their Savior.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Bernice Osborn, his sister, Joyce Barylski, and brother John Osborn all of Cape Girardeau. He is survived by his wife Diana Osborn (Poplar Bluff); his children: Andrea and Korey Holland (Tennessee), Lynette Osborn (Poplar Bluff), and Matthew and Katie Osborn (Pennsylvania); his eight grandchildren, Hunter, Levi, Riley, Kolton and Easton Holland, Sawyer, Duke, and Blakely Osborn, his sister Julie Osborn, (Cape Girardeau), his two nephews, Dan and Mark Barylski and their families (St. Louis), and his brother-in-law, Stan Ray and his family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 4:00-6:00pm at Westwood Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow, beginning at 6:00pm with Preacher Steve Proctor officiating. A private burial will be held the following day at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, plants or gifts please consider giving to the South Africa Missions fund of Lynette Osborn or a donation to Westwood Baptist Academy Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the visitation and funeral for your convenience. Please make checks payable to Westwood Baptist Church.
