James Robert Alford, 84, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Alford was born June 9, 1923, in Butler County. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired police officer, having served in Poplar Bluff, St. Louis and Michigan. Mr. Alford was also a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
On Oct. 14, 1948, he married Eunice Juanita Spradling. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Roger Alford, of Greenville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Alice Bilbrey, of Poplar Bluff; his brother, M. Gene Alford, of Bloomsdale, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Leroy Foster officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
