Jake Jacobs, Jr., 68, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, in St. Louis.
Mr. Jacobs was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Blytheville, Ark. He was a member of True Believer's Missionary Baptist Church, and had retired as a construction worker and Architect. Mr. Jacobs enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to do carpentry work and was described as an ""awsome mechanic"" after obtaining an auto mechanic certification in his later years. Mr. Jacobs was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He was married to Lois Jean Nelson-Jacobs. He later was married to Minnie Mathies-Jacobs and later Linda Johnson-Jacobs, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include children, Myrtle Mearline Jacobs-McCreary, Jr., of South Bend, Ind., Mary Elizabeth Jacobs and Debra Jacobs-Nelson, both of Milwaukee, Wisc., Arementh Jacobs and Robert Jacobs, both of Texas, and April Jacobs, of Calif.; step-son, Joe Johnson; sisters, Mattie Mae Jacobs-Works and Shirley A. Jacobs-Stout, both of Elkhart, Ind. and Mary A. Jacobs-James, of Mascoutah, Ill.; and brother, L. C. Jacobs, of Parma, Mo.
His parents, Andrew and Elizabeth (Ross) Jacobs, children, Sylvia Jacobs and Janice Jacobs, sisters, Ruby Lee Jacobs, Louise Jacobs-Crenshaw and brothers, Westley Lee Jacobs, Alex Jacobs and Sammie Lee Jacobs also preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
