Jack Wilson Smith, 83, of Wappapello, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Morehouse. He was a retired pipefitter, and a member of the Pipefitter's Union Local 562. Mr. Smith began working in St. Louis on the Arch and worked there until its completion. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge 4066, in Wappapello. Mr. Smith enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool and bowling.
On Sept. 25, 1944, he was married to Eva Halbrook, in St. Louis. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Beverly Smith, of Puxico and Judith Agoain, of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Thomas Michael Baker, Steven Robert Agoain, Angela Michelle Schweitzer, Melody Anne Hill and Kelly Marie Agoain.
His parents, Rex and Gladys (Jines) Smith and grandson, Thomas Michael Smith preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wappapello Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wappapello Chapel with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, in St. Louis.
