Jack L. Whitmer

October 9, 1932 — February 4, 2008

Jack Lionel Whitmer, 75, of Fairdealing passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Whitmer was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of The Old Rugged Cross Pentecostal Church, in Fairdealing, and had retired from Poplar Bluff R-1 School System as a bus driver. Mr. Whitmer enjoyed spending time with his family, going to church, collecting trains, gardening, camping, fishing and hunting.

On May 10, 1951 he married Gloria Koonce, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Cathy Davidson and husband Dennis, of Doniphan, Sharon Stadler and husband Raymond and Linda Johnson and husband Fred, all of Fairdealing and Carol Swearguam, of Poplar Bluff; 13 grandchildren, Danny R. Cox, Helen C. Davidson, Billy J. Davidson, Michael Spears, Laura Bradley, Christy Fisher, Jennifer Gibbs, Selena Hart, Timothy Gibbs, Jackie Davidson, Sonya Morse, Pearl Hillis and Aaron Bolin; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Patricia Walker, of Fenton; and five brothers, Richard Whitmer, Gary Whitmer, Stanley Whitmer and Terry Whitmer, all of Poplar Bluff and Charles Whitmer, of Fairdealing.

His parents, Charles and Agnes (Sullivan) Whitmer, sister, Deanna McIntosh and brother Bob Whitmer preceded him in death.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. David Watson officiating and the Rev. Imogene Morgan assisting. Burial will be at Bay Springs Cemetery, off of County Road 459, in Butler County.
