Irvin E. Deckard

Irvin E. Deckard, 76, of Williamsville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Deckard was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Poplar Bluff. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, and had retired recently as manager of Williamsville Stone Co. Mr. Deckard was a veteran of the United States Navy as well as the United States Air Force, and was a volunteer for the Butler County Fire Dept. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and woodworking.

On Oct. 22, 1969, he married Margaret Williams, in Alton, Ill. She survives.

Other survivors include daughters, Carolyn Hale, of Portageville and Phyllis Englehardt, of Caruthersville; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Virginia Whitsell and Georgia Foust, both of Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Jim Osborn officiating. Burial will be at Three Springs Cemetery off County Road 523, in Butler County.
