Irvin Eugene ""Gene"" Brown, 80, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Brown was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Qulin. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and had retired as a mechanic for Ford Tractor and Implement Co. Known as ""Mr. Fix It"", he enjoyed tinkering with anything broken or objects not working quite right, gardening and growing flowers.
On Dec. 15, 1955, he married Vivian Joyce Benton, in Broseley. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Sandra Dennis and husband Kevin, of Poplar Bluff and Diana Comer and husband Michael, of New Madrid; son, Stephen Brown and wife Linda, of Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren, Stephen Brown, Jr. and wife Carla, Corey Brown, Nicholas Brown, Kallista Dennis, Aaron Dennis, Ian Dennis, Shawn Comer and wife Tracey, Shelonna Shackleford and husband Jered, Shelby Comer, Shane Comer, Sheridan Comer and Shyanne Comer; and great-great-granddaughter, Emma Claire Brown.
His parents, William and Mettie (Medler) Brown, and brothers, Paul Brown, Rector Brown and Alfred Brown preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2414 Katy Lane, in Poplar Bluff. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery, in Broseley.
