Huferd Thomas Kobeck, 77, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Kobeck, the son of the late James Thomas and Dollie (Bond) Kobeck, was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, of Poplar Bluff where he served as Deacon, and had retired from the City of Poplar Bluff Light and Water Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to God's word and taking walks. Being a general handyman, he also enjoyed working on mechanical things and tinkering around in the workshop.
On Oct. 30, 1949, he married Katie Ruth Decker, in Piggott, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Carrie Simmons and husband Gary, of Poplar Bluff and Sandra Hanna and husband Mark, of Yuma, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Daphne Chandler, Tabitha Kirkpatrick, Ginger LeQuieu, Joey Hanna and Drew Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Kirkpatrick, Kendal LeQuieu and Haylee Chandler; and a sister, Judy Potts, of Kennett.
Visitation will be from 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at the Wardell Cemetery, in Wardell, Mo.
Cotrell Funeral Service, of Poplar Bluff is in charge of the arrangements.
