Howard Darnell, 74, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Darnell was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Wappapello. He attended Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and had retired after 40 years as an area manager for Missouri Natural Gas Co. Mr. Darnell was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a member of Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening and tinkering with cars and tractors.
On March 12, 1950, he married Martha Lou Gilmore, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Teresa Gooch, of Searcy, Ark., Cindy Jones, of Poplar Bluff and Lisa Clark, of Smyrna, Tenn.; a son, Greg Darnell, of Williamsville; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a sister, Helen Crawford, of Harrison, Ark.; and two brothers, James Darnell and Cecil Darnell, both of Williamsville.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Ron Daughhetee officiating. Burial will be at Montgomery Cemetery, off Miller Road in Butler County.
