Herschel (Butch) Eugene Holbrook, 76, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on January 31, 2025, at Memory Lane of Dexter Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri.
Butch was born on January 03, 1949, to Harry Herschel and Audrey (Wilson) Holbrook in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Barbara Baggett on July 06, 1968, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Butch graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1967. He worked as a freight conductor for Union Pacific Railroad nearly 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Butch was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He was a member of New Covenant Fellowship Church. Butch loved life and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a loving husband, father, papa, uncle and friend that will be dearly missed.
Butch is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; two daughters, Shannon (Dan) Penrod and Autumn (Keith) Lane; sister, Serena (Rickey) Gower; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Phyllis Massmann and Mary Farmer; son, Brian Eugene Holbrook.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 07, 2025, from 12:00-1:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will take place at Sparkman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
