Henry Franklin Reed, 97, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Mark Twain Caring Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Reed was born Sept. 10, 1909, in Shook, Mo. He was a member of Little Brown General Baptist Church and had retired in 1971 from the Burkhart Manufacturing Co., in St. Louis. Mr. Reed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening, working crossword puzzles and selling quilts that his friends had quilted.
On Dec. 19, 1935, he married Mildred Agnes Tinker. They were married for 65 years. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2001.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ellen Dougherty, of Williamsville; 6 grandchildren, Gary Dougherty, Steve Sanders, Debbie Livingston, Tammy Leach, Vicki Brooks and Samantha Porch; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
His parents, William Henry and Eva (Barlow) Reed, a daughter, Virginia Lee Sanders, 2 sons-in-law, James Sanders and Ray Dougherty, four sisters, Cora Roswell, Clara Barlow, Emily Powell and Henrietta Bennett and a brother, Robert Reed also preceded Mr. Reed in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel, with the Rev. Willis Smith officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
Serving their grandfather and great-grandfather as pallbearers are Josh Porch, Gary Dougherty, Joe Dougherty, Steve Sanders, Jason Webb and Kenny Brooks.
