Helen Marie Reed

Helen Marie Reed, 75, of Doniphan, died Monday, April 23, 2007 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Reed, the daughter of the late Hiram and Pearl (Moore) Whitaker, was born July 28, 1931, in Risco, Mo. She attended Current River Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Reed enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking and reading.

On April 16, 1948, she married Robert Edward Reed, in New Madrid. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Norma Reed and Brenda Blurton and husband Jim, all of Poplar Bluff and Patricia Moman and husband Frank, of Doniphan; two sons, Robert Allen ""Sonny"" Reed, of Doniphan and Ronald Reed and wife Bonnie, of Poplar Bluff; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; three half sisters, Blythe Lawrence, of Parma and Mary Dugger and Darlene Parks, both of Dudley; and a brother, Luther Whitaker, of Dexter.

A daughter, Joann Whoberry on Oct. 15, 2004 and a brother, Lewis Whitaker in Oct, 2005 also preceded Mrs. Reed in death.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel, with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating and the Rev. Wes Flaughn assisting. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
