Hazel E. Gowen

Hazel Eileen Gowen, 57, of Poplar Bluff passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008 at Capital Regional Medical Center, in Jefferson City.

Mrs. Gowen was born Aug. 1, 1950, in Canton, Ill. She was of the Baptist faith, and had retired as a nurse for Visiting Nurses' Association. Mrs. Gowen enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, crocheting, shopping, going to casinos and buying scratch off tickets.

On Oct. 23, 1981 she married Bobby Gowen, in Poplar Bluff. He survives.

Other survivors include six daughters, Melissa Keith, and Sandy Urich, both of Poplar Bluff, Ginnie McLaughlin, of Springfield, B.J. (Bobbie) Hafford, of Columbia, Sonia Johnson, of Paragould, Ark. and Susie Gowen, of St. Louis; three sons, Ricky Gowen, Mike Gowen and Kenny Gowen, all of Poplar Bluff; 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Martin White and Carl White, both of Canton, Ill. and Lyle White, of San Jose, Calif.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel with Pastor Lee Harwood officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
