Harvey L. Sizemore

March 22, 1921 — December 18, 2007

Harvey L. Sizemore, Jr., of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital, in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Sizemore was born March 22, 1921, in Kewanee and grew up in Sikeston. He was of the Baptist faith, and a past member of the Poplar Bluff Lion's Club. Mr. Sizemore had retired from the United States Army after 26 years of service which included World War II - Pacific Campaign and the Occupation of Japan, and most recently had retired as Assistant Director for the Poplar Bluff Housing Authority. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, and as an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and bowling.

Ob Feb. 22, 1941, he married Frances A. Edmondson, in Sikeston. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughters, Cherry Hencken, of St. Charles, Fran Berry, of Pittsburg, Kans., and Shelley Moore and husband Daniel, of Poplar Bluff; 10 grandchildren, Leigh Raymer, Zachary Moore, Lucas Moore, Lane Moore, Felicia Meyer, Trip Hencken, Scott Marler, Tracy Bailey, Christopher Marler and Matt Marler; 14 great-grandchildren, Alec Green, CoCo Raymer, Danni Raymer, Tyler Meyer, Carter Meyer, Lauren Bailey, Jakob Bailey, Neeley Henry, Leyton Marler, Melayna Waxler, Kaylee Marler, Christian Marler, Levi Marler and Ivoree Marler; and sisters, Lucille Martin, of Bunker, Ill., Virginia Martin, of Sacramento, Calif., and Sybil Knight and husband Joe, of Harrisburg, Ill.

His parents Harvey L. Sizemore, Sr. and Margaret (Brasher) Sizemore, sisters, Betty Smith, Christine Smart and Helen Oliver, and son-in-law, Edward Berry preceded him in death.

The visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Earl Edmondson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the Dogwood Cemetery, in East Prairie, Mo.
