Harold A. West

Harold A. ""Hal"" West, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Doniphan died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. West was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Kingston, Pa. He had retired after 32 years with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. Mr. West was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Poplar Bluff and a past member of United Methodist Men's Club. He was also a member of the Lean on Me Ministries Food Pantry, in Doniphan; a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; a member of Photographic Society of America; and a World War II veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. West enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and bowling.

On July 1, 1972 he married Emily Moore, in Waterford, Mich. She survives.

Other survivors include four children, Dennis West and wife Cindi, of Hilton Head, SC, David West and wife Carol, of Mt. Clemens, Mich., Sandra Moore Price and husband Dr. Michael Price, of Poplar Bluff and Gunnery Sgt. Myron T. Moore and Susan, of Flint, Tex.; 11 grandchildren, Dennis Jr., Heather, Angela, Sherry, David Jr., Tina, Jennifer, Steven, Sheldon, Taylor and Corey; numerous great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lois Lawrence, of Kingston, Pa., Joan Clore and husband Bill, of Clearwater, Fla. and Carole ""Cookie"" Ward and husband Frank, of Frederica, Del.

Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Augusta West and a stepson, Billy Gene Moore.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 500 North Main St., in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Kurt Schuermann officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Amity Cemetery, in Ripley County.
