Harley Russell Fritts

Harley Russell Fritts, 86, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at The Cedargate Care Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Fritts was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Bernie to the late John William and Bertha Mae (Osborn) Fritts. He was a Charter Member of Fellowship General Baptist Church, and had retired as an auto salesman for Childress Chevrolet Dealership and later Blackwell Baldwin Auto Dealership. Mr. Fritts was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching sports and fishing and hunting.

On May 27, 1942, he married Reidious L. ""Jimmie"" Hodge, in Malden, Mo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2003.

Survivors include daughters, Judy Caputo and husband Bill and Lori Tapp and husband Jimbo, all of Poplar Bluff; son, James Russell ""Bud"" Fritts and wife Gayla, of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Tara Caputo, Shanna Carr and husband Richard, Kaci Tapp, Kori Tapp, Jamie Fritts and Turner Fritts; great-grandchildren, Kyler Carr, Keaton Carr and Kannon Carr; and brother, Wilbur ""Jr."" Fritts and wife Barbara, of Flint, Mich.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Byron Beck officiating and Jack Woodfin assisting. Burial will be at the City Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
