George Stanley Davis

George Stanley Davis, 77, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

George was born on July 13, 1946, to George and Lillian (Koonce) Davis in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He married Mary Sue (Hupp) Davis on July 15, 1972, in Qulin, MO.

George was of the Baptist faith. He worked for the Poplar Bluff School District for 38 years as a bus driver and maintenance man. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and tinkering with small motors in his spare time. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will truly be missed.

George is survived by his wife, Mary Davis; son, Darrel Davis; daughter, Amanda (Jimmy Hill) Ward; five grandchildren, Courtney (Bryden Burns), Emily, Bryce, Kaden, and Serenity; two great granddaughters, Haisleigh and Ryleigh; sister, Ruth Whitmer; three brothers, John (Jane) Davis, Dennis (Rholonda) Davis, and Paul (Debbie) Davis; along with numerous extended family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian Davis; sister, Verna Whitmer; two brothers, Clyde and Kenneth Davis.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 12:00-1:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Jim Schremp officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
