George Sickels, 80, of Williamsville, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff,
Mr. Sickels was born Oct. 23, 1926, in Manila, Ark. He was a member of New Oak Hill General Baptist Church and employed for 43 years as an electrician with Hussman Refrigeration, in St. Louis. Mr. Sickels was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and fishing. Mr. Sickels also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing gospel music.
On June 23, 1984, he married Judy Ann Hendrickson, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include seven children, Wanda Emerick, Ron Sickels, Brenda Reed, and Judy Ashby, all of Ill., Brad Sickels, of Fla., Richetta Tarwater, of St. Louis and Tommy Waller, of Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Don Cox officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the New Oak Hill Cemetery, in Butler County.
