George Irven Davis, 80, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, March 23, 2007 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Davis was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Fisk to the late William Howard and Celpha Jane (Campbell) Davis. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and formerly employed as a security guard at Baldwin's Saw Mill. Mr. Davis was also a veteran of the United States Army as well as the United States Navy having served during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Mr. Davis was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
On Aug. 14, 1963, he married Rexie Rodgers, in Bloomfield. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Reed, Charlotte Kinney and husband Frankie and Lora Lee Hartwick, all of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Ira Bennett, of Silva and Jeri Jo Wade, of San Diego, Calif.; and a niece Wilma Lee, of St. Louis.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shain Memorial Cemetery, near the Ash Hill community at Fisk.
