George Allen Barker

George Allen Barker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Allen was born on November 22, 1958, to Charles Alonzo and Christine (Niswonger) Barker in Poplar Bluff. He married Deanise Bilbrey on July 16, 1983, at the First United Methodist Church also in Poplar Bluff.

Allen graduated from Poplar Bluff High School. After graduation he worked for Inland Oil as a deckhand and then went to Mobil Oil as Chief Engineer. He later became the owner and operator of Barker’s Feed, before working as a Specialized Trade Worker for the state of Missouri-National Guard.

Allen will be remembered fondly for his love of the outdoors, especially deer hunting and gardening. He spent many years volunteering for SEMO 4-H rodeo. He was very proud of his boys and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Allen is survived by his loving wife, Deanise Barker; three sons, Charlie and wife Taylor, Justin and wife Ireland, and Dylan Barker; sister, Christina Linscomb; granddaughter, Dixie Kate; aunt, Wanda Spargo; sisters-in-law, Teresa Phelps and Bobbi Hon (Doug); brother-in-law, Tim Bilbrey; nieces, Emma Linscomb and Shannon Crabtree (Torrey); nephew Bucky Hon (Amanda); along with other extended family and many friends.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Christine Barker; father and mother-in-law, Dean and Mary Bilbrey; brother, Horace Franklin Barker; brothers-in-law, Gene Linscomb and Basil Phelps.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Allen’s life will be held on Saturday, February 01, 2025, from 11:00am-12:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services.  The memorial service will begin at noon with Charlie Barker officiating. A graveside committal will be held at Hamtown Cemetery in Butler County immediately following the memorial service.

Allen’s memory lives on in the hearts of his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
