Gary Kent Brandenburg, 84, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away July 4, 2021, at St. Luke’s in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Gary was born March 19, 1937, in Edgeley, North Dakota to William Herman and Amelia (Washburn) Brandenburg.  He and Carol Malsom were married July 26, 1962.

Gary was an accountant and internal auditor for the Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, Michigan. Upon retirement in 1996, he and Carol relocated to Poplar Bluff to be near family.

Gary was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff.  He loved reading and golfing and could usually be found golfing six days a week at Westwood Hills Country Club. When his children were young he enjoyed bowling and coaching children’s bowling. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by many.

In addition to his loving wife, Gary is survived by two daughters, Dr. Debra Robertson of Poplar Bluff and Caren (Anthony Voet) Brandenburg of Whitsett, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Peyton Robertson of Poplar Bluff and Nick Voet of Springfield, Missouri. He is also survived by 3 step-siblings Ron Bethke of Fargo, North Dakota, Jeanette Erickson and Della Hieb, both of Snowflake, Arizona.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 12, 2021, from 11 AM until time of service at Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services.  Memorial services will be at 12 PM with a lunch reception immediately following the service at Willow Ridge. A private inurnment will be held in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Poplar Bluff Senior High School Golf Teams, 3209 Oak Grove Rd, Poplar Bluff, Missouri 63901 or the local Vietnam Veterans of America #1056, 502 Vine Street, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, 63901.
