Dr. Francisco Gualberto Torres Aybar, MD, FAAP, FACP, FACC

Dr. Francisco G. Torres Aybar, of Ponce, Puerto Rico passed away at the age of 86, on June 22, 2021.

Services will be held at Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO. The viewing will be on Monday June 28th, beginning at 11am followed by a religious ceremony at 1pm.

Dr. Torres Aybar was a Pediatric Cardiologist for 58 years, an educator, a mentor, and a pillar of his community. He studied medicine in Universitat De Barcelona Facultat De Medicina in Barcelona, Spain. He did his internship and his Pediatrics residency at Ponce Regional Hospital in Puerto Rico, and his subspecialty in Pediatric Cardiology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr.Torres Aybar, was Chief of the Pediatrics Department at Damas Hospital, Ponce, PR, and Chief of the Pediatrics Department, and Director of the Residency Program at the Ponce Regional Hospital. He was also an Associate Professor at Ponce School of Medicine and at the UPR Medical Sciences Campus. He spent time in charge of the Committee of Continued Medical Education program at the Medical Academy of the South, Ponce, PR.

He was an accomplished physician with multiple awards, publications and honors. Dr. Torres Aybar was featured in several publications, such as Marquis Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World. Amongst his accomplishments, he was a Fellow of American College of Cardiology, Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics, and Fellow of American College of Physicians.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Elga, his daughters, Jo Ann and Elga, his grandchildren, his sister, and extended family.

In his personal life, he was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered with love and reverence and will be missed by the many lives he has touched.
