Francis Leon Wells, 84, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday April 13, 2007 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Wells Was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Gurdon, Ark. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Mr. Wells was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and former P.O.W. He was a member of the D.A.V., V.F.W. and the American Legion. Mr. Wells had farmed, worked in construction and the last few years before retirement he worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed his church and spending time with his family.
On Aug. 28, 1981, he married Margie Huff, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Judy Woodham and Martha Perren, both of Farmington; two stepsons, Randal Huff and wife Vicki, of Bonne Terre and Thomas Huff, of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren, Travis Slayton, Audrey Beres, Ginger Brennen, Sheila Wren and Michelle Colony; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Powell, of Arkadelphia, Ark. and Linda DeVault, of Gurdon, Ark.; and three brothers, Eugene Wells, of El Dorado, Ark, Tommy Wells, of Ashdown Ark. and Jimmy Wells, of Gurdon, Ark.
His parents, Grover and Lillie (Patterson) Wells, his first wife, Lucille Wells, a son, Larry Glenn Wells, a sister and four brothers, Raymond Wells, Wayne Wells, Donald Wells and Billy Jack Wells preceded Mr. Wells in death.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel, with Louis Hillis officiating and Vernon Curry assisting. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, in Bloomfield.
