Francis C. Boyer, 81, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Boyer was born Oct. 12, 1924, at Chaonia, in Wayne County to the late Leonard and Laura Jane (Stanley) Boyer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Boyer had retired from the United States Navy after 31 years of service, earning 5 good conduct medals and a bronze star. He also served 2 years in the Antarctic Ice Cap where he received an Antarctic Service Medal. Mr. Boyer was a member of Amvets Post 29, the V.F.W. Post 3416, a volunteer at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff, a member of the Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard, the Navy Fleet Reserve Association Branch 225, a Red Cross Volunteer as well as a Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer, a member of the R.S.V.P. and President of the Rucker Cemetery Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family and flower gardening.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Dillin and Zella Ashby, of Poplar Bluff; two nieces, Betty Denny, of Puxico and Sandra Joiner, of Fisk; 5 great-nieces and nephews, 13 great-great-nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Pat Boyer, of Springfield, PA.

A brother, Lloyd Boyer preceded him in death.
