Floyd M. Whitmer

Floyd M. Whitmer, 85, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Whitmer was born April 15, 1921, in Poplar Bluff to the late Andrew Alan and Bertha (Dunlap) Whitmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff and a self-employed contractor. Mr. Whitmer was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.

On July 11, 1941, he married Ila Mae Browning, in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2001.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Adams and husband Howard and Vickie Quade and husband Bill, all of Poplar Bluff and Lana Chinn and husband Phil, of Monticello, Ind.; 8 grandchildren, Mark Quade and wife Kim, Angela Carol Adams, Kimberly Dawn Burns and husband Ed, Trevor Ray Quade, Kelly Stephen Hicks and wife Myra, Kresha Mae Limberoupoulous and husband Stravis, Keri Hicks and Jason, Kegan Marvin Hicks and Cara; 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way, Andrew William Quade, Danielle Rae Quade, Samantha Ann Quade, Seth Chaelin Quade, Sabrina Faye Hicks, Kamron Kelly Hicks, Demetri Limberoupoulous, Dominik Limberoupoulous and Hanna Ferguson; 3 sisters, Vivian Sanner and Marjorie Nunn, both of Poplar Bluff and Joyce Upchurch, of Jonesboro, Ark.; and one brother, Lloyd Whitmer, of Poplar Bluff.

A sister, Lorene Blakeney and a brother, Gene Whitmer also preceded Mr. Whitmer in death.

Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14th at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15th in the funeral chapel. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
