Flossie Jane Jaco, 89, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs. Jaco was born May 21, 1918, in Russellville, Ark., and was of the Baptist faith. She and her late husband, E. W. ""Jake"" Jaco owned and operated Jaco's Grocery on Hwy 142, in Poplar Bluff for many years. Mrs. Jaco enjoyed spending time with her family, having her family gather around for holidays, having a flower and vegetable garden where she especially enjoyed growing ""Nearly Wild"" roses, playing bingo, taking shopping trips to Memphis and going to Tunica with family and friends.
On Oct. 31, 1936, she married E. W. ""Jake"" Jaco. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1992.
Survivors include five children, Edmund Jaco and wife Helena, of Paw Paw, Mich., Patricia Pender, of Van Buren, Peggy Jenkins and Shirley York, of Poplar Bluff and Betty Parish and husband Dale, of Memphis, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren, two of whom she raised and were a very big part of her daily life, Steve Jaco and Michael Shawn York, both of Poplar Bluff; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Lee Hern and wife, of Russellville, Ark.; and a special home healthcare giver, Margaret Wallace, of Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Jaco was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Fredericks, of Vicksburg, Mich. on Sept. 8, 2005, a grandson, Michael Jaco, of Paw Paw, Mich., a son-in-law, James Pender, of Van Buren, and three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel, with the Bishop Kent Miller officiating and Mr. Richard Starbuck assisting. Burial will be at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
