Fay Lavern (Kanell) Powell

Fay Lavern Powell, 88, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Cedargate Health Care.

Fay was born on February 20, 1936, to John and Iva Gladys (Walker) Kanell in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She married Robert "Bob" Earl Powell on August 09, 1959, in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Fay was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star, and volunteered at the Bee Hive Health Store for many years. Fay often enjoyed joining her husband on his river boat travels. She also enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with her family and friends.

Fay is survived by her son, Timothy (Nancy) Powell; two grandchildren, Victoria (Cameron) Hill and Saxton Powell.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Powell; son, John Robert Powell; granddaughter, Vanessa Powell; six brothers, Claudie, Billie Gene, Norman, Glenn, Vernon, Robert Kanell; two sisters, Betty Pruitt and Wanda Burkett.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10:00-10:30am at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at 10:30am. She will be entombed at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with her husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Post #153.
