Eugene J. Seats

Eugene Joseph Seats, Jr., 50, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Wappapello passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.

Mr. Seats was born Dec. 4, 1957, in St. Louis. He was a member of Lakeland Assembly of God Church, and had retired from the United States Army. Mr. Seats enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball, bowling and playing with his dogs, Twinkie and George.

On Oct. 21, 1995, he married Linda Waggoner, at Wappapello. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughters, Mandy Seats and Radeena Proffer and husband Drew, all of Poplar Bluff; son, Joshua Seats and wife Angie, of Wentzville; mother, Helen (Walton) Umphenour, of Wappapello; five grandchildren, Alex Seats, Tyler Seats, Zachary Lafferty, Brittany Lafferty and Ashtyn Proffer; sister, Janet Tanner, of Tonganoxie, Kans.; and brother, Carl Davis, of Rolla.

His father, Eugene Seats, Sr., step-father, Barton Umphenour and brother, Joe Davis preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel with Bro. Arvin Haynes officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery, in Bloomfield.
