Eual Eldon Hayes, 81, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away on March 18, 2023.
Eual was born on April 17, 1941, to Arthur and Laura (Moses) Hayes in Rockwood, Illinois. He married Brenda (Imlay) on March 31, 1973, in Imperial, Missouri.
Eual was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors after 29 years. Later in life, Eual began working part time at the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff, which turned into a full-time gig of 26 years. He enjoyed golfing, watching football, spending time in his shop and outdoors. He was a talented woodworker; some of his creations included table & chairs, beds, and bird houses. Eual was an active member of the Elks Lodge #2452. He was also a proud member of the Freemasons and Shriners. Eual loved his family dearly.
Eual is survived by his wife, Brenda; two children, JR (Wendy) Hayes and Krystal Lohmann; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Irma, Leola, and Mildred Hayes
Eual was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Floyd, Olin, Homer, Herschel, Jack, and Jim Hayes; one sister, Fern Cheney; son-in-law, Paul Lohmann; life-long friend, Jim Wittmeyer.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 2:00-5:00pm at the Elks Lodge #2452 in Poplar Bluff. The Elk’s ceremony will begin at 2:30pm.
Inurnment will take place on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 10:00am at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
