Estellar Mae (Harris) Williams

Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Estellar Mae Williams, born on January 09, 1922, in Helena, Arkansas, to the late Charlie and Betty Harris. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, December 04, 2024, at the age of 102. As the eldest of 9 siblings, Estellar’s life was marked by her deep faith and commitment to her community.

From a young age, Estellar embraced her faith, being baptized at Conley Grove Missionary Baptist Church. In 1937, she married S.T. Stubbs, and together they welcomed their beloved son, Stanley Stubbs.

Estellar’s journey took her to Chicago, Illinois, where she became an active member of New Zion Baptist Church. She worked diligently as a Laborer at a clock manufacturing company.  Her dedication to her faith continued as she moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, joining New Light Missionary Baptist Church, which later became Loving Jesus Missionary Baptist Church. As Estellar served as a mother of the church sharing her strong vocal talent and teaching Sunday school imparting her biblical knowledge to all ages.

Her professional life saw her retire from Butler County Home Health as a homemaker where she was honored as Homemaker of the Year in 1987, a testament to her compassionate care for her patients and their families.

Estellar’s contribution extended beyond her church and work. On February 18th, 2024, she was recognized for her 55 years dedicated service to The Order of the Eastern Star. Additionally on December 18th, 2022, she received a certificate of celebration from the southeast Missouri singing federation. Alongside her dear friend Evelina Miller, Estellar Co-founded the woman's mission at Mount Sinai church, further exemplifying her commitment to service and community. She also was awarded a certificate from the state representative when she gracefully turned 100 years old.

Estellar was preceded in death by her parents; all 8 of her siblings; husband; one granddaughter, Pamela and one great grandson, Marcel.

Estellar Mae Williams leaves behind a legacy of faith, service and love, cherished by her family friends and all who knew her. She leaves behind her son Stanley Stubbs; five grandchildren, Gena (Ernest), Maria (Keith), Carmen, Jacqueline and Stanley Jr.; 14 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 11:00a-12:00p at Emmanuel House of Praise Church located at 844 Cedar Street. The funeral will follow beginning at Noon with Rev. John McCain officiating. Mrs. Williams will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
