Ervin E. Helton

Rev. Ervin E. Helton, 71, of Poplar Bluff died suddenly Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Rev. Helton was born November 23, 1934 in Butler County. He was a Preacher for 48 years and Pastor of the Community Holiness Church for 40 years. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Since 1974, he served as a fireman with both the City and County Fire Departments and was assigned to the Oak Brier Sub Station for 20 years.

On March 5, 1955 he married Vivian Faith who preceded him in death on February 21, 1994. On April 16, 2005 he was married to Carol Baggett who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Rick Helton and wife Rachell;daughter, Regina Stratton and husband, Russell, all of Poplar Bluff and a step-son Glen Gearhart of Ellsinore; four grandchildren, Rocky Helton, Rusty Stratton, Rachael Gearhart and Samuel Gearhart. He is also survived by three brothers, Clyde Helton, John Helton and wife, Pat, and Gene Helton Moore and one sister, Lela Fisk, all of Poplar Bluff.

Rev. Helton was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence L. and Lucinda Stage Helton; two brothers, Jim Helton and Lawrence ""Pancho"" Helton and four sisters, Alice Powell, Gladys Thacker, Letha Helton and Lorene Coleman.
