Elsie "Irene" (Murphy) Scheider

Elsie "Irene" Scheider, 86, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Friday, November 04, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Irene was born on June 4, 1936, to John and Joyce (Yates) Murphy in Clarksville, Arkansas. She married Bill Scheider on June 9, 1980, in Granite City, Illinois.

Irene was strong in her faith and religion. She was the matriarch of her family; however, she gladly stepped up as a friend and stand in family member for anyone in need! She had a very loving and magnetic personality. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.

Irene is survived by one child, Donna Sladek; two brothers, James "Jimmy" and Mike Murphy; one sister, Linda Taylor; five grandchildren, Terri Duncan, David Griffin, Meredith Sladek, Michelle Farrar, and Adam Sladek; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, James "Cotton" William Griffin; second husband, Bill Scheider; one son, James "David" Griffin; five brothers, John Patrick (infancy), Donald "Donnie", Harchel, Herschell, and Hubert Murphy; five sisters, Bertha Rothcart, Patricia Freeman, Edith Nugen, Christine McCoy, and Judy Manning.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 3:00-5:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 10:00am. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Bill.
