Elmer Lee Seesengood, 77, of Poplar Bluff, died December 1, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Seesengood was born January 22, 1929 in Butler County to the late Lawrence and Mattie (Thurman) Seesengood. He was a farmer and auto mechanic. Mr. Seesengood was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and telling hunting and fishing stories to his grandchildren.
In August, 1948 he was married to Mary Jane Jaco, the Mother of his children and was later married to Zelma Ruth Appleby on Dec. 24, 1969 in Poplar Bluff. Ruth Seesengood preceded him in death on June 3, 1996.
Surviving are two children, Carolyn Kearbey and husband Richard of Poplar Bluff and Frank Seesengood and wife Rita of Poplar Bluff; 5 grandchildren, Tim Vanderburg and wife Shanna of Puxico; Steve Hanners and wife Cathy of Poplar Bluff; Amy Folsom and husband Darek of Sikeston; Mark Seesengood of Memphis, Tenn.; and Jeff Seesengood and Holly of Poplar Bluff; and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Thelma Hicks and husband Ralph of Poplar Bluff. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Edward Seesengood.
Visitation will be at 12:00 noon Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following a 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel with the Rev. Clara Swofford officiating. Burial will be in Bay Springs Cemetery in Butler County.
