Douglas Ronald Scott

Douglas Ronald Scott of Poplar Bluff, Mo passed away quietly at his home on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Doug was born on February 9, 1965. His parents are (the late) Ronald “Dago” Scott and Betty (Allbritten) Scott. Doug had attained the age of 58 years 6 months and 8 days.

On October 6, 1989, he married Jana Kay Carter, together they have five children: Liberty Scott, Betsy (Garrett) Reeves, Clare Scott, Eli Scott, and Journey Scott all of Poplar Bluff.

Doug was a lifelong resident of Poplar Bluff, and was employed by the USDA Farm Service Agency in Butler County since 1987. He enjoyed sharing a good story and having a fun time with farmers, and friends.

He loved the Lord, his mother and father, his wife, and his children. Doug lived to farm (cattle and row crops). His favorite things were bailing hay on a hot summer day, drinking sweet tea, and listening to country music.

He was an accomplished storyteller and had a heart ten times bigger than he was. He was kind and gentle and was always interested in helping other people. He brought a whole new meaning to the phrase “love your neighbor.”

He will be greatly missed by family and friends, but don’t be saddened. Doug left us with great words of wisdom. In his final hours, he said, “Don’t worry, God’s got this under control.”

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services.

Funeral will be in the Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 21, 2023 with burial at Kearbey Chapel Cemetery. Pastor Jim Mann and Pastor Devin Black officiating.
