Douglas Wayne Ruark, Sr., 44, of Irving, Tex., died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006 at the Baylor Medical Center, in Irving.
Mr. Ruark was born April 29, 1962, in Maysville, Ky. and graduated from the Tollesborg, Ky. High School. He was of the Protestant faith and employed with a security firm in Illinois. Mr. Ruark was also a 3-year veteran of the United States Army, the Army Reserve and an 8-year veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching movies and playing the guitar and mandolin.
On Feb. 9, 1993, he married Angela Harris. She survives.
Other survivors include three children, Douglas Wayne Ruark, Jr. and Kimberly Lynn Purcell, of Maysville, Ky. and Jacob William Ruark, of Irving, Tex.; his mother, Alma (Applegate) Thomas of Tollesboro, Ky.; his father, Donald Ruark, of Ewing, Ky.; one grandson; a sister, Peggy Ann Combs, of Maysville, Ky.; and two step-brothers, Billy Thomas and Freddie Thomas, of Fleming County, Ky.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Schremp officiating. Burial, with full military honors will be at Sparkman Cemetery, in Butler County.
