Dorothy Marsh
Dorothy Marsh, 94, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at the home of her niece, in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Marsh was born Dec. 7, 1913, in Butler County. Graduating from Poplar Bluff High School, she later moved to Michigan where she lived for 30 years. Mrs. Marsh returned to Poplar Bluff, in 1972. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was also involved in the Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Marsh was a homemaker and enjoyed baking bread and cookies, and making candy. She also enjoyed her dogs and birds.
On Oct. 5, 1944, she married Elmer H. Young. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1963. On Oct. 28, 1967, she married Vernon Marsh. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1980.
Survivors include step-son, Vernon ""Pete"" Marsh, Hr. of Belleville, Mich.; 3 step-grandchildren; and four nieces including her caregivers, Margie and Crandall Thornburgh, of Poplar Bluff, Peggy Ann McCarty, Shari Head, and Dorothy Abney.
Her parents, Nathan Ward and Emily Rosella (Elder) Hendrickson, sisters, Birdie Flanakin, Winifried Head, and Olive Head, and brothers, Mark Hendrickson and Harding Hendrickson also preceded her in death.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Crandall Thornburgh officiating. Burial will be at the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
