Dorothy Louise (Barker) Patterson

Dorothy Louise (Barker) Patterson, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the age of 90.

Dorothy was born Feb. 28, 1931, to Arley D. and Artie May (Brayton) Barker in Butler County.  She attended the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and was a retired secretary. Dorothy enjoyed history and researching family ancestry, reading, shopping and collecting Cardinals

Survivors include her son John Douglas Patterson of Canon City, Colorado; three sisters, Mary Ellen( John) Tibbs of Poplar Bluff, Jean (Charles) Chatman of Winter Haven, Florida, and Sue (Jimmy) Gilbert of Poplar Bluff; four brothers, Arley (Lois) Barker, Eugene (Denise) Barker and Kenneth Barker all of Poplar Bluff and Art (Linda) Barker of Morris, Illinois; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert J. Patterson, a son, Dan Patterson, a sister, Evelyn Burgin and a brother, William Barker.

Visitation will begin at 1 pm Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, with the funeral service following at 2 pm.  The Rev. Jim Duncan will officiate. Interment will be at Black Creek Cemetery.
