Dorothy Carleen (Randall) Gowen

Dorothy Carleen Gowen, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri completed her earthly journey Thursday, December 29, 2022, at her home with her loving family at her bedside.

In 1959 Dorothy married the love of her life, Bobby Gean Gowen in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death in 2014.

Dorothy, one of 10 children was born March 18, 1943, in Poplar Bluff to Carl and Letha (Brown) Randall. Described by her family as a determined and hard worker, she could accomplish anything she set her mind to.  Over the years Dorothy owned and operated C & C Beauty Salon, was a truck driver, a carpenter, and an EMT and lastly owner and operator of Jess’s Drive-In.  She loved crafts, gardening, scrap booking, cooking for her family and friends and organizing family reunions.  Dorothy loved her family and loved spending time with them. A favorite pastime was singing and playing her guitar. Oh, how she will be missed!

Survivors include four children: Sandy (Kenneth) Urich and Mike (Rita) Gowen of Poplar Bluff, Sonia (Larry) Johnson of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Kenny (Tracie) Gowen of Poplar Bluff; 13 grandchildren, Dana (Ben) Maxwell, Jamie (Blake) Bailey, Austin Urich, Angela Johnson, Amanda (Michael) Biri, Eric Johnson, Allyson (Josh) Rathbun, Christopher Gowen, Meighan (Jacob) Redden, Dustin (Jenni) Urich, Adam Gowen, Kori Gowen (Kencin Ramsey), and Aaron Gowen; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed (Pat) Randall and Virgil (Linda) Randall.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, Margaret Gossett, Edna Moore, Virginia Magill, Lola Morgan, Louise Pratt, Bonnie Johnson and one brother Phillip Randall.

The visitation will begin at 11 am Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel.  The funeral service will follow at noon in the Chapel with Pastor David Thomas officiating.  Burial will be in the Woodlawn Section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
