Rev. Dorene Johnson, 73, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Sikeston, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Rev. Johnson was born June 4, 1934, in Socorro, New Mexico. She was pastor of the Lighthouse Mission Church, in Poplar Bluff; a retired Executive Director for the Sikeston Bootheel Food Bank which served 16 counties; a member of the Sikeston Salvation Army; and a member of the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous other committees and boards. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her church and helping other people.
On April 1, 1969, she married Ray G. Johnson, in Poplar Bluff. He survives.
Other survivors include daughter, Susan Griffith, of Killeen, Tex.; sons, Kenneth Hinds, of San Antonio, Tex., Allen Hinds, of Sikeston and Harold Johnson, of Sikeston; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Todd, of Sweethome, Oreg. and Sis Givens, of Socorro, New Mexico; and brothers, Carter Knowlton, of Sacramento, Calif. and Richard Knowlton, of Winkelman, Ariz.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Parker officiating. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery, in Broseley.
