Dennis C. Fears, 65, of Poplar Bluff passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 at St. Louis University Hospital.
Mr. Fears was born Nov. 4, 1942, in St. Louis. He and his wife Brook owned and operated Shady Oaks Retirement Home, in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Fears was an avid western movie fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and traveling.
On Aug. 15, 1972 he married Brook L. Zahner, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Dr. Amanda Fears, of Boston, Mass.; two sons, Jared Fears and Adam Fears, both of Poplar Bluff; father, Charles O. Fears, Sr. and wife Ruth, of Swansea, Ill; sisters, Sharon Blair and husband Butch, of Thomasville, N.C., Judith Garrett and husband Glendol and Barbara Fears, all of Poplar Bluff; brother, Charles O. Fears, Jr. and wife Ruth, of Edwardsville, Ill.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Zahner, of Williamsville; brother-in-law, Craig Zahner, of Williamsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fears was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice L. (Bartch) Fears on Aug. 3, 2006.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel with the Rev. J. C. Bryant officiating and Pastor Glenn Marshall assisting. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery, in Butler County.
