Curtiss Daryl Shamblin

Curtiss Daryl Shamblin, 58, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Curtiss was born June 17, 1964, in Poplar Buff to Ervin and Edith (Hicks) Shamblin. He lived in Poplar Bluff his entire life. Curtiss was a long- time member of Collins Chapel Church and graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in1982.

Curtiss worked several years for Briggs and Stratton before facing disability in 2002 after suffering a massive brain tumor.  For the past several years Curtiss had lived at Oakdale Assisted Living Facility in Poplar Bluff.  He died after a recurrence of the brain tumor and subsequent surgeries at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

When Curtiss was able, he enjoyed fishing and golfing. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the Hockey Blues and enjoyed watching football and being out in nature. He loved dogs and cats and having a bird feeder so he could watch the birds.  He also was a big Dr. Pepper guy.

Curtiss is survived by two sisters, Brenda Shirkey of Morehouse, Missouri and Regena (Richard) Chronister of West Plains, Missouri; a brother, Rick (Pamela) Shamblin of Blue Springs, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald Shamblin and a brother-in-law, Keith Shirkey.

Visitation will begin at 10 am Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel with the funeral following at 11 am. The Rev. Dennis Aud of Columbus, Indiana will officiate.  Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery on W Highway.
