Charles R. Shumate, 50, of Poplar Bluff, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Shumate was born Oct. 25, 1956, in Rapid City, South Dakota to the late David Willis and Vinia Mae (Gowen) Shumate. A worker for CSX Railroad, Mr. Shumate attended Collins Chapel Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and working with electronics. Mr. Shumate was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include a sister, Kathy Mitchell and husband JR, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, David Shumate and Raymond Shumate, both of Poplar Bluff; a niece, Makaylee Shumate, of Park Hills; four nephews, Sean Mitchell and Austin Mitchell, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., Shang Lee Shumate, of St. Louis and Clinton Shumate, of Poplar Bluff; a great-niece, Madie Mae Shumate; and a great-nephew, Clinton Deuce Shumate, Jr.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. Entombment with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, in Bloomfield.
