Carley Jo Carpenter, 7, of Harviell, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at the Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, in Memphis, Tenn., as the result of injuries sustained Saturday in an automobile accident.

Carley was born Sept. 2, 1999, in Poplar Bluff, to Joseph and Sommer (Parker) Carpenter. She was an active member of the Fountain of Grace Church, and a first grade student at Hillview Elementary School. Carley enjoyed cheerleading and had cheered Saturday. She enjoyed her church, spending time with her family, playing with her Bratz dolls, music and dancing.

Carley is survived by her parents; two brothers, Clayton Carpenter and Colton Carpenter, of the home; her maternal grandparents, Vernon and Linda Parker, of Poplar Bluff; her paternal grandfather, James A. ""Jim"" Carpenter, of Poplar Bluff; great-grandmother, Dorothy Longbottom, of Poplar Bluff; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her paternal grandmother, Fay Carpenter preceded Carley as the result of injuries she sustained in the accident Saturday.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary's Grace Church, 844 Cedar St., in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Joseph Carpenter officiating and the Rev. David Tharp and the Rev. Doris Swartz assisting. Burial will be at Kinsey Cemetery, in Butler County.
