Carl Glenn Merritt

Carl Glenn Merritt, Sr., 79, of Harviell, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Merritt was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith, a retired sawmill worker and a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II.

Survivors include five sons, Steve Merritt and Johnny Merritt and wife Brenda, all of Harviell, Calvin Merritt and wife Judy, of Oxley, Carl M. Merritt, of Wappapello and Carl Glenn Merritt, Jr. and wife Colleen, of Savannah, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; his sister, LaVon Martins and husband John, of Bonne Terre; and his brother, James E. Merritt and wife Letha, of San Bernadino, Calif.

His parents John and Dorothy (Brannum) Merritt, and one great grandchild preceded Mr. Merritt in death.

A graveside service with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kinsey Cemetery, in Butler County with the Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating.
